IAB Podcast Upfront 2020 Will Showcase the Biggest Names in Digital Audio

Next week, brand marketers and agency executives will come together for IAB Podcast Upfront 2020. The three-day virtual conference, scheduled for September 9-11, gives media buyers the opportunity to preview the latest podcast programming from the biggest names in digital audio.

Actress and comedian Franchesca Ramsey is slated to host the event. Ramsey currently hosts the MTV web series “Decoded”. She most recently worked as a writer on the 2020 Oscars and is a former writer and contributor for The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore

“Franchesca is the perfect host for this year’s record-breaking event,” said IAB President David Cohen. “She is someone who’s helped redefine the possibilities of digital entertainment and we’re looking forward to having her lead us through three days of incredible presentations and insights on the power of podcasts.”

Ramsey will be joined at IAB Podcast Upfront 2020 by a different co-host each day of the event. On Wednesday (9/9) her co-host will be Sarah Gonzalez, host of NPR’s podcast Planet Money; on the 10th, Chris Jericho, host of Talk is Jericho; and on the 11th, former Democratic Presidential candidate and US Housing Secretary Julián Castro, host of Our America.

This year will be the first virtual Podcast Upfront event, featuring a mixture of pre-recorded and live events throughout each day. Although Podcast Upfront is an invitation-only event for brand marketers and agency executives, over 2,500 people are registered to attend, a record-breaking audience size.

The purpose of IAB Podcast Upfront is for podcast networks to present their shows to advertisers, with this year’s lineup including iHeartRadio, NPR, Barstool Sports, ViacomCBS, Pineapple Street Studios, Westwood One, and more.

IAB Podcast Upfront 2020 is September 9-11, 2020. Attendance is by invitation only; however, IAB is offering the chance for students to attend for free through the IAB Access program. Students using a .edu email address can request an invitation here.
