Mind of a Mentor Episode #132: Jane Hanson, Emmy Award Winning Journalist and Coach

The latest episode of Mind of a Mentor features an interview with Jane Hanson, nine time Emmy award winning broadcast journalist, communication coach, and Forbes contributor. She has spent her 30 year career helping prominent leaders learn how to communicate better in today’s world.

After nearly 10 years as an anchor and correspondent for NBC networks, Hanson was named co-anchor of “Today in New York” in 1988. In 2003, she became the station’s primary anchor for local programming and the host of the “Jane’s New York.” Most recently, she hosted a daily lifestyle program, “New York Live.” She has covered a huge variety of subjects, communicating complex issues clearly and effectively to the masses while interviewing presidents, prominent business leaders, prisoners, celebrities, and more.

Given her background, communication coaching was a natural next step for Hanson. In her coaching technique, she focuses on three core elements: what you say, how you say it, and how your body language keeps it all in sync. She is a coach to corporation leaders, major publishers and editors, politicians, entrepreneurs, chefs, and more.

Hanson is also a decorated television journalist with 9 Emmy Awards and the title of Correspondent of the Year by New York’s Police Detectives. She has also served as the March of Dimes Walk-America Chairman, honorary chair for the Susan B. Komen Foundation’s Race for the Cure, and is a board member of numerous other charitable organizations.
