After leaving high-level jobs in New York City to start this coaching business and follow their passion, Jackie and Mimi became proponents of the power of mindset helping clients bridge the gap between their conscious goals and their subconscious thoughts and beliefs.

We speak to high-achieving Gen X women who believe having it all means doing it all. The only problem is it makes them feel exhausted, anxious, and unfulfilled. This podcast is for Gen X women, no longer are allowing them to be the forgotten generation. Instead, we are dedicated to tackling the issues keeping them up at night.

What’s a quote or piece of advice that you try to live by?

JG: Jackie is the Jack Russell of humans, high energy, optimistic, fun + determined.

MB: Seeing the clarity through chaos and the ability to organize it with a great sense of humor.

What was your first job?

MB: Babysitting

JG: Working in a bakery

JG: Home-décor refinishing projects

MB: Organize closets

JG: Inefficiency

What inspired you to start your podcast? 

MB: We wanted to reach as many Gen X women as we could who felt stuck so that we can show the that they didn’t have to wait for mid-life to be over to feel better.

JG: Gen X women had been ignored for such a long time and deserved to be heard.

Tell us more about your work/life outside of your podcast.

MB: I am a business coach and life coach and the co-founder of The Resting Mind. I am also a wife, daughter, mom to two fur babies. Prior to coaching I was VP, Marketing at a division of News Corp. I am also a surviving-sibling, after losing my younger brother and sister in two separate freak health instances. Fun facts: I haven’t gone a day without eating chocolate and I love being Aunt Mimi to my 15 nieces and nephews.

JG: I am a career and life coach and the co-founder of The Resting Mind. I’ve been married for 20 years and have an 11-year old daughter who we adopted after years of infertility. Fun facts: I am adopted as well, I am an only child, married to an only child and we have an only child. Prior to coaching I was Associate Publisher of the media brand AdAge.

What is your show’s USP?

MB: The energy of Jackie + I together.

JG: The way Mimi and I make you feel like you are at happy hour with your girlfriends who are giving you advice, while admitting their own flaws.

What is one of the greatest challenges you have personally faced with your podcast?

MB + JG: While trying unsuccessfully launch “the perfect podcast” we became so frustrated, taking the fun and energy out of partnership that we almost pulled the plug on our entire business.

What was one of your favorite episodes you’ve ever done? Why does it stand out?

We loved our episode on Decision Fatigue because we were able to incorporate the learnings from our backgrounds in energy leadership + brain science. Listen here.

What is one thing you have accomplished with your podcast thus far that you are most proud of? 

We were named #18 on Feedspot’s top 40 Life Coach podcasts you must follow in 2020.

What is one major milestone that you would like to accomplish through your podcast in the next year? 

We want to reach 100k Generation X women.

What is a trend or development in the podcast industry that you foresee happening in the next few years?

There will be a bump in the number of podcasts over the next couple of years, however the ones that consistently deliver high-quality content will stand above the rest.

What is one of the best pieces of podcast-related advice you’ve ever received & why?

It doesn’t have to be perfect, in fact, imperfections will make you more relatable, as long as audio quality is good.

What is one of the worst pieces of podcast-related advice you have ever received & why?

People trying to dissuade us because of the time commitment, however when you are passionate about influencing and impacting Gen X women it has not felt like work since we launched.

Can you tell us about a time when you took a huge risk/did something you were scared to do, and it totally paid off?

We both left big corporate careers with huge six-figure salaries in NYC to become coaches and start our own businesses.

Is there a charity or cause you care about that you would like to share?

St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Make a Wish, ASPCA

How do you feel you’re making a positive impact and generating change through your podcast?

Ada Calhoun’s book, Why We Can’t Sleep, put a spotlight on how unhappy and unfulfilled Generation X women are feeling. However, the book doesn’t offer any solutions on how these women can pull themselves out of this midlife malaise. Jackie + Mimi don’t want to give Gen X women permission to be stuck. Instead, they want to empower them to live happy and fulfilled lives.
