What inspired you to start your podcast?

We desperately wanted to share the power of meditation with the world after it saved my life and began our journey of traveling the world and coaching people. Plus, so many of my yoga students and clients said I had a great voice for podcasts 🙂

Tell us more about your work/life outside of your podcast.

We are both online entrepreneurs and have started multiple businesses. We first began with a yoga mat company 10 years ago and moved into the online coaching business over 8 years ago. We previously worked in Marketing (Emily) and Sales (Scott).

What is your show’s USP?

We strive to provide cutting-edge information, trainings and interviews with experts to teach people how to use their mind to achieve anything they want. Ultimately, we are providing a user’s manual for your mind.

What is one of the greatest challenges you have personally faced with your podcast?

The biggest challenge is patience with technology and letting go of perfectionism. It took me some time to let go of my ego over having the best podcast in the world and be OK with sucking before I am great. I also learned the hard way to always have back-up recordings. I once coaxed an extremely shy teacher into filming a powerful online yoga class and then accidentally wiped the file. That was a tough one.

What was one of your favorite episodes you’ve ever done? Why does it stand out?

I had the opportunity to interview Tricia Brouk, an award-winning writer and producer, and it was so amazing. She was one of our only guests ever that did as much work researching us and we did researching her! She was a great guest and was an absolute joy to interview. Listen here:

What is one thing you have accomplished with your podcast thus far that you are most proud of?

The thing we’re most proud of is simply putting it out there and sticking with it. We taught ourselves how to create, post and market a podcast with no training or support, and we have kept putting it out there and growing it the same way.

What is one major milestone that you would like to accomplish through your podcast in the next year?

We want to hit the one million downloads mark.

What is a trend or development in the podcast industry that you foresee happening in the next few years?

I believe the market will be flooded with more people using podcast platforms due to the pandemic. I also envision more interactive features like live chatting and live casting going on with the introduction of platforms like TikTok and Clubhouse.

What is one of the best pieces of podcast-related advice you’ve ever received & why?

The best advice we received was from one of our mastermind partners. They told us to just “do the damn thing” and stop waiting for perfection.

What is one of the worst pieces of podcast-related advice you’ve ever received & why?

The only really bad advice we’ve received was that it was necessary to have a perfectly professional studio with all the most expensive tech gear to have a podcast. We figured out some of the best in the industry started out recording in their car in the garage or in a closet with their phone. Better done than perfect!

What are some of your favorite women-hosted podcasts?

Amanda Frances, I Heart My Life Show, The Big Talk, Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations.

Can you tell us about a time when you took a huge risk/did something you were scared to do, and it totally paid off?

Personally: We sold and donated everything we owned and started traveling the world full time in 2015. It was one of the scariest and one of the most rewarding decisions we ever made. Professionally: We started our first company by renting out our house, moving to a small basement apartment with a college-aged roommate and saved our money for a year and a half to self-fund the company. We were able to make back our investment within 6 months of launching, and were able to start a new coaching business after dozens of people approached us to help them start their own businesses!

Are there any great podcast-related resources you love that you would like to share?

Podtrac. That one is a free tracking resource we found late in the game after realizing our web host wasn’t tracking like we thought. It’s been offering great download tracking information for us.

Is there a charity or cause you care about that you would like to share?

We have supported Women for Women International for years, and it is still one of our favorites. We also love and support Off The Mat Into The World.

How do you feel you’re making a positive impact and generating change through your podcast?

It has always been our mission to inform, inspire and empower people to create the life of their dreams using the power of their own unlimited potential. We feel like the information we share on our podcast is creating a ripple effect and bringing this work into the mainstream more and more.
